Original permit B2201730, Permit revision B2401155 Project was approved under IBC 2017/ DCMR-12A 2017. We ask for a modification to 2017 IBC Section 713.8.1. to 2018 IBC Section 713.8.1. IBC 2017 Section 713.8.1 does not allow for any penetrations in shaft enclosures unless necessary for the purpose of the shaft. There are no exceptions. The 2018 IBC 713.8.1 modifies the code section and allows for exceptions that will no longer limit the type of or purpose for the penetration but will simply limit the location to the exterior membrane and require the proper protection. Penetrations need to be in compliance with Section 714.4.2. All Code sections are attached at the end of this application. 1)Are there specific individual reasons that make the application of the strict letter of the Construction Codes impractical? YES Relocating devices from the shaft walls would require additional floor space and plan modifications from currently approved plans. 2)Is the requested modification is in compliance with the intent and purpose of the Construction Codes? Yes The requested modification will be in compliance with the 2018 IBC Section 713.8.1 and Section 714.4.2.It is not compliant with the District's current 2017 Building Code. 3) Does the requested modification lessen health, accessibility, life and fire safety, or structural requirements? NO.
