We are looking to repair our existing front steps and bring them up to code. Our permit application includes the following work : demo existing (4) steps at front entrance . Upon removal we have arranged for installation of a reinforced concrete pad - designed to accommodate (4) granite steps that will be delivered and setup after concrete pad has cured (approx 6-7 days time ) The new stairs will measure 5ft wide with each step having 12” reveal and a consistent 7” riser height ( including the top step onto landing ) I’ll try to attach photo of existing steps . But to give you a little context as to what currently exists …. Is a set of precast concrete stairs ,4 in total ;each step measuring 7ft long with a 12” reveal and riser height of 7” . The stairs themselves are in good condition. The issue is the previous owner of home did not properly prepare ground service prior to placing precast concrete steps. And as a result the the entire staircase settled overtime into ground by almost 6” ;leaving us with a riser height of almost 13” at the top step onto our landing ( aka porch door) .
